Where it hurts
Diamond Head, twice
Short uphill grades on the way out, and again at mile 24 when they feel much longer.
The highway
Long, straight and exposed once the sun is up. The early start is there for a reason.
The heat
It gets warm fast after sunrise. Most of the field finishes in the hottest part of the morning.
Elevation
Mostly flat along the coast. The organiser points out some short uphill grades near Diamond Head, which the course goes round twice, once on the way out and once near the end.
