Where it hurts

The hairpins

Three of them, at Ellis Avenue, Bayview Avenue and Maclean Avenue. Every one costs a few seconds and some rhythm.

The fly-overs

Short rises over Spadina and the Don Valley Parkway on a mostly flat course.

Bay Street

The finish is uphill. Only gently, but you'll notice.

Elevation

Mostly flat along the lake. The organiser points out a rise before Jameson Avenue, the Spadina fly-over, the crossing of the Don Valley Parkway on Eastern Avenue and the gradual climb up Bay Street to the finish.

Good questions

Where does the Toronto Waterfront Marathon start?

On Yonge Street near Elm Street, facing north. The start moved from University Avenue to Yonge Street in 2025, and the organiser lists this spot, near Elm, for 2026.

Where does it finish?

On Bay Street, just north of Queen Street.

Is the Toronto Waterfront Marathon flat?

Mostly. The only rises are a few fly-overs and the gentle climb up Bay Street to the finish.

What's the difference between the Toronto Marathon and the Waterfront Marathon?

They're two races. The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is in October and loops along the lakeshore. The Toronto Marathon is in spring (Sunday 2 May 2027), starting at Mel Lastman Square in North York and running mostly downhill to finish at Lake Shore Boulevard and Strachan Avenue.

When is the next Toronto Waterfront Marathon?

October 2027. The organiser hasn't confirmed the date yet.

Can I order a print before race day?

Yes. Order now, choose Send later, and send your file after you finish. Either Toronto race works.
